Windows Registry Explorer: it cant be simplier than that! 1. Download Registry Explorer from this page (see Full setup, 1.4 MB) and install this little masterpiece. 2. After you have installed Registry Explorer, start it. Double-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Policies, Explorer one after another. Notice: Most books and sites display it like this: Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. 3. You will see the (default) value and propably some other values like NoDriveTypeAutoRun (which prevents the CD/DVD drive to autostart setups or welcome screens after you have inserted a disk). 4. Right-click on an empty area within this window and select New/DWORD value. Name it NoRecentDocsMenu , double-click on this value and enter 1. This is just an example of the thousand possibilities the registry has to offer - after a restart this value causes the start menu item My Recent Documents to disappear and to be completely inaccessible.
