Quick overview:

Do you prefer playing browser games and PC games on Windows 10? You like Candy Crush, like to use the Karamba Bonus Code or play action games? With Windows 10, you can also play many old titles that are no longer available on the consoles. You can play Xbox One games and install a simulator for the Playstation. Nevertheless, the pre-installed system settings on Windows 10 is not perfect for gaming. We have some tips for you on how you can help your computer reach new heights of performance.

Activate the game mode!

To do this, simply press the Windows key + R and write "Game mode" in the window that opens. As soon as you activate the setting, Windows will automatically prioritize all background activities that are necessary for gaming. For example, as soon as you run a game, Windows will prevent driver installations, restart notifications and the downloading of updates. All other system programs that are not necessary for the game are also paused or run at minimum performance. However, the game mode and its effectiveness depends on your computer and hardware.

Install DirectX12

The program involves programming interfaces that reduce development costs at Microsoft. DirectX12 is very important for gaming. The program simplifies and accelerates the interaction of your computer's hardware components. The latest version is DirectX12, which has a massive positive effect on the newer graphics cards, especially those from the manufacturer Nvidia. The graphics cards therefore run significantly faster and more smoothly and require less energy when gaming. In summary, it can be said that DirectX12 allows your graphics card to achieve significantly better performance.

You can easily find out which version of DirectX you are currently using. To do this, open Windows PowerShell, type "Dxdiagt" and the DirectX diagnostic tool will open.

If you do not have the latest version, go to Updates and security in the settings. Under Updates, you can check for available updates. The computer will automatically find the driver for DirectX12 and update your version.

Activate the maximum power plan

Your Windows PC has various energy-saving modes and also a mode that drives your computer to peak performance. You should activate this for gaming. It consumes a lot of energy, but the performance it frees up is worth it. To activate the power plan, search for "Power" in the system settings. You will be redirected to a settings page regarding mains operation and energy saving. There you can select the power mode. There are also some personalization options available. This allows you to decide how much the performance of your computer should be improved and which background tasks should continue to run.

Optimize the visual effects!

The GUI, the graphical user interface of your computer, can reduce the performance of the graphical display of games. By default, Windows 10 is set to optimize the computer's performance for everyday tasks. The higher you set your GUI settings, the more power the computer consumes and the less other processes can perform. But this is exactly what you need for smooth gaming.

To ensure that the games you play in the foreground are not hindered by GUI-optimized processes in the background, these settings will help: Go to Windows settings and type "Performance" in the search box. Select the settings for optimized performance. Then click on the "Advanced" tab. Check there whether the performance optimization of the GUI is set for programs and not for background processes.

Optimize your mouse settings

Especially in games where you need to react quickly, you will benefit from the improved mouse settings. Above all, the acceleration of the mouse makes a big difference here. It is important that you find out for yourself how fast you can adjust the mouse and still be able to click accurately.

Open the Windows settings to adjust the options for the mouse. You will find the cursor speed in the menu. Under "More mouse options" you will also find additional settings relating to speed. The precision can also be optimized there.
