Quick overview:
Users of LCD screens in particular benefit from ClearType text, as it improves the typeface considerably. However, while the settings under Windows Vista were still somewhat meagre, this has been improved in Windows 7.
To improve the typeface, you are now supported by a wizard. You can access this via Start -> "cttune" (enter in the search field). The wizard will then guide you through several steps. Among other things, you can choose which display appears best for you.
If you have a larger LCD screen, you can also simply perform the screen color calibration. To do this, enter "dccw" in the search field in the start menu.
You will then be guided again by a wizard that supports you with several settings such as gamma correction or brightness.
A small side note: Windows 7 also comes with a new font called "Gabriola". This is based on new technologies (OpenType, DirectWrite).
We would be delighted if you would share your impressions with us in our forum!
Sincerely,
Raimund Machacek
