Quick overview:
When you install programs, they create their shortcuts on the desktop. Unfortunately, a shortcut arrow appears in the lower left half of the icon. If this bothers you, I have the solution here:

1. Click on Start/Execute and type in the command line regedit in. When you confirm with Enter, the program appears with which you can view the Windows 98 registry database. It is similar to Windows Explorer.
2. Now navigate by double-clicking one after the other on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LNKFILE and you will see the value IsShortCut. Select it and press Remove to delete it.
Close Regedit and restart your PC. When Windows has loaded, the linking arrows have disappeared.
