Quick overview:
The digital ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) technology gives the Internet user an additional plus in speed compared to modems as well as a more stable connection. If you have an ISDN card in your computer and an appropriate telephone system, these instructions will help you to get your Windows 2000 up and running for ISDN. We use the AVM Fritz card as an example:
1. Click in succession on Start > Settings > System control and double-click on System in the next window.
2. Now switch to the tab Hardware and opt for the Hardware assistant. Confirm the greeting with Next and and select Add device or Fix problem.
3. Now select Add new device and select No, select the hardware component itself in the next window. Make sure that the entry Other devices is highlighted and click on Next.
4. In the next window, select AVM-GmbH and choose your FritzCard Classic!
5. Click now on Data carrier and insert the installation CD-ROM/diskette of your ISDN card into the drive and navigate to the driver file using the Explorer that appears (for more information, see the manual).
6. You may now be asked for the ISDN connection type, which you can select with European ISDN confirm. The wizard is now finished and you must restart your computer.
Now the CAPI port drivers are installed, which is also easy to do:
1. Start the CAPI port installation from your AVM installation CD/disk using the file Setup.exe and select only the top two options in the installation program that appears.
2. Windows asks for a restart again. This completes the ISDN installation and you can now dial into the Internet.
