Quick overview:
Digital ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) technology gives Internet users an additional speed advantage over modems and a more stable connection. If you have an ISDN card in your computer and a corresponding telephone system, this guide will help you to get your Windows 2000 up and running for ISDN. We use the AVM Fritz card as an example:
1. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel and continue by double-clicking on System in the next window.
2. Now switch to the Hardware tab and select the Hardware Wizard. Confirm the welcome message with Next and select Add device or Fix problem.
3. Now select Add new device and select No, select the hardware component itself in the next window. Make sure that the entry Other devices is highlighted and click Next.
4. In the next window, select AVM-GmbH and choose your FritzCard Classic!
5. Now click on Data carrier and insert the installation CD-ROM/diskette of your ISDN card into the drive and navigate to the driver file using the explorer that appears (for more information, see the manual).
6. Now you may be asked for the ISDN connection type, which you confirm with European ISDN. The wizard is now finished and you must restart your computer.
Now the CAPI port drivers are installed, which is also easy to do:
1. Start the CAPI port installation from your AVM installation CD/disk using the file Setup.exe and select only the two options above in the installation program that appears.
2. Windows asks for a restart again. This completes the ISDN installation and you can start dialing into the Internet.
