Quick overview:
If you have swapped your old Internet Explorer 4.0, which came with Windows 98, for the new Internet Explorer 6.0, you will have noticed that you can no longer enter the raw address windows-kompendium.de (or any other) in the address bar. In this case, the cumbersome MSN search appears, which not everyone wants - we have found out how you can easily work around this:
Win 98 - Optimize search bar
1. Start Internet Explorer and click on Extras/Internet Options at the top. Here, switch to the Advanced tab.
2. Scroll down until you find the entry Do not search in address bar and confirm with Enter.
Once you have followed these 2 simple steps, you will be rid of the annoying MSN search once and for all.
