Quick overview:
After the Nokia phones Lumia 820 and 920 as well as the Nokia Lumia 1020 with its outstanding camera, Nokia has now released an affordable smartphone that runs Windows Phone 8.1. We briefly introduce the Nokia Lumia 630.
Slimmed-down top performer
The Nokia Lumia 630 is a smartphone for beginners and anyone who is already perfectly happy with the basic functions of a modern smartphone: Making calls, navigating and surfing.
The Nokia also copes with common games. However, if you take a closer look, you will quickly notice where the rather low price of around 160 euros comes from: the internal camera only works with five megapixels, the internal memory is rather sparse with 0.5 GB of RAM and eight GB of mass storage, and you have to do without both Gigabit WLAN and LTE. The casing is made of plastic - but you have the option of choosing the color of your choice for the rear casing cover.
Quality on the screen
The screen of the Lumia 630 is large enough at 4.5 inches and impresses with its good image sharpness, intense color display and sharp text. The features of the built-in camera include touch focus, good sharpness and color reproduction as well as a continuous shooting function.
However, "selfies" are not possible with the Nokia LUMIA 630, as the smartphone does not have a front camera. Instead, it boasts other features and functions, including the integrated, fast 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor, over 16 hours of talk time and 25-day standby mode.
The phone also comes with free music streaming, an integrated map system for finding your way around and many pre-installed apps. Interesting for many: The Lumia 630 can also be purchased as a dual SIM version, which allows the use of two SIM cards in one smartphone.
Expandable memory
With its eight gigabytes, the Lumia 630 is not exactly generously equipped with mass storage, but it can come up with a memory expansion of up to 128 gigabytes - enough to carry around lots of apps, music or photos with the smartphone. And you don't have to buy an expensive 128 GB microSD-memory card - a cheaper 32 GB card will certainly do in most cases.
All in all, the Nokia Lumia 630 smartphone is a perfect entry-level device for everyday use - its strengths lie in its speed, its state-of-the-art software and its up-to-date operating system. So if you can do without a top-quality cell phone camera, LTE, a metal casing or more mass storage, it is a good choice.
