Quick overview:
Windows Vista has also introduced visual enhancements. One of these new features is Windows Aero, which is a visual treat, but requires a lot of performance. We will show you how to activate Aero even on weaker devices!
[By Raimund Machacek]
To activate Aero, proceed as follows:
First you must click on "Windows key + R" the "Execute"-dialog box. Now tap there "regedit" and confirm with "OK".
A new window will now open, the Windows Registry Editor.
Now make your way to the following key:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsDWM".
Now right-click in the right-hand pane and select "New->DWORD value (32-bit)" and create the following values (all as DWORD values):
UseAlternateButtons
EnableMachineCheck
Metal
ForceSoftwareD3D
DebugMessages
DebugZOrder
DebugMouse
DebugDumpTree
These entries are not assigned any values. Now also create a DWORD value called "Glass"double-click on it and enter a "1" (decimal).
After a restart, you should now be able to activate Aero. However, please bear in mind that your PC may now run more slowly.
