Quick overview:
If you leave your computer unattended for a long time, you will probably have set up a screen saver that turns on after about 10 minutes.
In this case, a password protects you quite well from prying eyes. But what if you have misplaced this password and still want to continue using the screensaver? Your password is hidden in the registry:
1. Click on Start/Run and enter the command regedit next to Open.
2. Now navigate through the keys HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop and delete the value ScreenSave_Data in the right-hand pane.
3. After you have restarted Windows, the screen saver is password-free and you can enter a new one.
