The Windows Me system restore function is one of the operating system's flagship features, as it makes it easy to back up the computer's most important files and restore them if necessary. This function requires a lot of space on the hard disk for the backup, which can be a bottleneck, especially on computers with low hard disk capacity. There is a way to reduce the reserved space far beyond the conventional ways (system control):
1. Click in succession on Start/Execute and enter in the command line regedit in.
2. Now shimmy through the Registration key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\StateMgr\Cfg\ReservedDiskSpace and look at the right half of the window.
3. Double-click on the value Min and select in the newly appeared dialog Decimal. Now you can enter the desired number, e.g. 50 which means that the system restore will reserve at least 50 megabytes.
4. The value Max indicates the upper limit, which can be 100, for example. When you restart the computer, the new values are already active.
