Quick overview:
It's really unbelievable: For a few days (approx.) it has been in the Windows Live Messenger it is no longer possible to send URLs with the ".info" ending in the domain name.
The day before yesterday, for example, I wondered why my counterpart didn't react after I had read the Windows Vista installation instructions https://www.windows-tweaks.info/?p=9 forwarded via Messenger. I ask: "Well, didn't you get the message?" The answer was: "No, nothing there!".
Together with Dominik from Winforpro.com I tested a bit in Messenger and we found out that only .info domains are affected! Also here I finally stumbled across this little impertinence!
My questions for the Messenger team:
- Why are all domains with ".info" domains evil?
- Why do you write in your blog on http://messengersays.spaces.live.com/ nothing about it?
- Why don't users receive a message about this? When I send a .info domain, the message "You have tried to send a blocked URL" should AT LEAST appear so that I KNOW that my counterpart has not received it.
I can only thank the people at "Messenger Stuff" (http://www.msgstuff.com) can only agree: A typical example of sloppy, hasty development! Yikes!
Yours, Sandro Villinger
