Quick overview:
Your system, which is equipped with SP1, crashes or no longer works properly, which is why you decide to perform a system restore. If this system restore point was set BEFORE the installation of the service pack, the crash after the restart is perfect. All network configurations and links have been removed and you can no longer connect to the Internet.
I will show you how to solve the problem:
1. start the Windows Registry Editor, which you can access via Start/Run.
Win XP SP 2 - Restore network settings
2. Now wind your way through the paths HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan and double-click on ObjectName. Here you now check whether the value LocalSystem is entered. If this is not the case, enter this now and confirm with OK.
3. Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP (i.e. 2 subkeys further) and delete the keys 25 and 26.
