Microsoft issued a warning about a security vulnerability yesterday. The "Security Advisory 2501696", the MHTML protocol in Internet Explorer is being exploited to smuggle malware into the system. Once again, everything is being overcooked:
However, the user must - as always - explicitly surf to a prepared page with IE and click on an MTHML link (see above) - only then does an infection occur. So far, despite publication of the gap, there are said to be no websites that actually exploit this gap.
If you want to be on the safe side, switch off the MHTML protocol. To do this, simply install the following Fix It solution...
and start them!
