Many users have set up a parallel operating system. For example, it is possible to run Windows Millennium with Windows 2000 at the same time - such a configuration is called dual boot in technical jargon. Each time the system is started, a menu (boot menu) appears, giving you the choice between the operating systems. This boot menu usually remains for exactly 30 seconds before it automatically switches to a Windows system if you have not selected one yourself. This time can be easily adjusted:
1. Click Start > Settings >Control Panel and select System.
2. Now bring the Advanced tab to the front and select the Start and restore button in the Settings section.
3. In the next window, you will see a number to the right of the line Display duration of the operating system list. Here you can set in seconds how long the boot menu should appear until the Windows version on which the cursor is positioned starts. Once you have entered the desired number, you can click on Ok and restart your computer.
