Quick overview:
Internet Explorer 7.0 in Windows Vista (or XP) regularly crashes with the message "Sysfader.exe has caused a problem..."? The problem has various causes and solutions, which I would like to describe to you below...[By Sandro Villinger]
- If you have a 64-bit Windows Vista, you should run the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. To do this, click on
and select here
. Now click on... at the top of the Start menu.
- "Sysfader.exe" is responsible for the various fade-in and fade-out effects in Windows Vista. I therefore recommend that you first of all keep the graphics card driver up to date! This is because it is responsible for the entire display of the Windows Vista interface and can cause problems with the effects in older or faulty versions. Visit for example http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us (for nVidia graphics cards) or http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html(for ATI graphics cards). Download the latest version of the graphics driver here and install it.
- You can also easily switch off the fade-in and fade-out effect if no solution works for you! To do this, first click with the right mouse button on "Computer" and select "Properties".
- Select here
and click on "Settings" in the "Performance". Remove the checkmark from the following options:
- "Animation when minimizing and maximizing windows"
- "Show or hide menus in view"
- "Hide menu items after calling them up"
- "Show or hide tooltip in viewen"
- If this does not help either, it is highly likely that a Trojan, virus or spyware is to blame for the problem. First of all, start "Windows Defender" and carry out a complete scan of your entire hard disk. I can also recommend the following software for removing security risks:
- "AdAware 6"
- "AVG Anti-Virus Free"
You can find out whether a Trojan is at work under http://www.trojancheck.de/ find out quickly!
I hope that this has solved the problem for you!
