Quick overview:
Vista optimizes the hard disk of your computer with the help of the program "Defragmentation", which you can find in the Start menu under "All programs/accessories" find. Annoying: Vista defragmentation only optimizes files that are smaller than 64 MByte!
However, movies, games and complex programs regularly handle files several hundred MB in size. Vista also optimizes large files with the following tip. This will ensure that even more complex applications run smoothly:
1. First click on the start button . Type the command "cmd" in.
2. The list of search results now shows "cmd.exe" at the top. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Run as administrator".
3. Confirm with "Continue" to display the command line. Enter the following command here: "defrag c: -w". Then press Enter. This will perform a thorough defragmentation of the C: drive, where all programs and Windows files are usually located. If you want to defragment drive D: afterwards, simply type "defrag d: -w" and press Enter.
Note: Now it's time to get a cup of coffee! This thorough defragmentation takes a while...
