Quick overview:
Windows 8.1 is only slowly establishing itself on the market, and now a new version of Windows is waiting in the wings: Windows 10 is already available as a free preview version, but only in encrypted ESD format. We show you how to create a burnable Windows 10 ISO from the Technical Preview step by step.
From Windows update to the hard disk
Microsoft does not offer the update as an image for a complete reinstallation, but distributes it via the update function if you have already installed Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9841.
You can use a trick to download the ESD files used in the update directly and create a Create Windows 10 ISO.
To do this, you first need the freely available program Wireshark. This program can be used to read the network traffic (and therefore Internet traffic) of a computer. After starting Wireshark, select the network interface of the computer via which the Internet connection is running and start recording.
While Wireshark is monitoring the connection, start Windows Update and then initiate the download of the new version.
Download and export as burnable ISO image
After a short time, you will see the download links to the ESD files in the Wireshark recording. You can now stop the download of the update and use the links to conveniently download the ESD files to your own hard disk, for example by calling up the links in a browser. However, in order to be able to burn your Windows 10 ISO, you still need to convert the ESD files into an ISO image.
For this you need the program "ESD Decrypter" from the developer Chris123NTs, which provides you with a ready-to-use Windows 10 ISO. You can then burn your Windows 10 ISO with a burning program or conveniently with Windows board tools (from Windows 7).
Tip: It is advisable to download the ESD files relatively soon after reading the links, as the download links are apparently only valid for a limited time.
Install new Windows version fresh without any problems
Our guide shows you how to create a Windows 10 ISO image in just a few steps. With this image, it is possible to burn a DVD and quickly and easily perform a complete reinstallation of the current Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860. Incidentally, this method is also very likely to be applicable to later updates and versions of the Windows 10 Technical Preview.
