Quick overview:
Thanks to the previous tips, you have already set up your Internet connection via modem or ISDN, DSL perfectly. Now all you have to do is choose the right provider and connect via your Internet connection. In most cases, magazines such as CHIP or ComputerBILD will help you find the right provider. In many cases, the user name and password are also included. On the other hand, you can register with a large provider who will then send you this data conveniently by post. And this is how you use them:
1. In the control panel, click on Network and dial-up connections and select immediately Create new connection.
2. You will be greeted by a friendly wizard. Click Next and select in the next window Dialing into the Internet.
3. In the screen that appears, select manual setup and confirm.
4. After you have selected the option with modem and ISDN in the next step, you must enter the telephone number in the next window. Click on Next is sufficient and you can then enter your user name and the Password enter.
5. Last but not least, you can give this connection a name. You will also be advised to set up an e-mail account, which you can thankfully decline, as Windows Tweaks will deal with this later on.
Now that you are online, it's time for the next step: Find the basic drivers for Windows 2000 and install them perfectly.
