Quick overview:
Thanks to the previous tips, you have already set up your Internet connection via modem or ISDN, DSL perfectly. Now it's just a matter of choosing the right provider and connecting via their network. In most cases, magazines such as CHIP or ComputerBILD will help you find the right provider. In many cases, the user name and password are even included. On the other hand, you can register with a large provider, who will then send you this data conveniently by post. And this is how you apply:
1. Click on Network and dial-up connections in the Control Panel and immediately select Create new connection.
2. An assistant will greet you in a friendly manner. Click Next and select Dial into the Internet in the next window.
3. In the screen that appears, select manual setup and confirm this.
4. After you have selected the option with modem and ISDN in the next step, you must enter the phone number in the next window. Just click on Next and you can then enter your user name and password.
5. Last but not least, you can give this connection a name. An e-mail setup is also recommended, which you thankfully decline, as Windows Tweaks will deal with this later on.
Now that you are online, let's move on to the next step: Find the basic drivers for Windows 2000 and install them perfectly.
