Quick overview:
If you are still in possession of an older Zip drive with a parallel port connection and it is not recognized by Windows 2000, you must first make it clear to the operating system that it is a so-called legacy device. To do this, proceed as follows:
1. Right-click on Workplace and select Properties from the context menu.
2. In the following window, click on Hardware at the top and open the Device Manager.
Double-click on Connection and then on Printer connection. Under the menu item Port settings you will find the option at the bottom to activate legacy detection for Plug & Play.
Tick the box and restart your PC with the Zip drive switched on. After a restart, it will be where it belongs:
