Quick overview:
Anyone who thinks that the classic floppy disk drive is no longer up to date is very much mistaken. It is still often used as a simple way of transferring data when it comes to small documents or simple images and tiny programs. It would hardly be worth using a CD burner here.
Unfortunately, the floppy drive is still very slow, which is why it is advisable to increase the part of the working memory that reads data from the floppy drive in advance and stores it temporarily. Once you have done this, the speed of the floppy drive will increase dramatically.
Increase read speed for floppy drives
1. First click on Start and then to Execute. In the command line, enter regedit followed by pressing Enter.
2. Shimmy your way through the Windows registry Paths HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\fdc\0000 and right-click in the right-hand pane.
3. Now select New > Character string. Now name your freshly created value ForceFIFO and confirm this. Double-click on it and enter a 0 in the line that appears.
After a restart, you will notice an increase in the data rate and faster access to your floppy disk drive.
