Quick overview:
The standard Vista settings normally hide known file extensions. However, this can be very dangerous, especially for unknown files. We will show you how to activate this option!

Proceed as follows to bring more clarity to the Explorer and to display file extensions:
Open the computer browser by double-clicking on the computer icon on the desktop.
Now press the "Old"-button and now click on "Extras->Folder options->View". Now deactivate the item "Hide extensions for known file types".
