A real strength of the smaller version of Microsoft's Surface RT is the battery life. So why is it only around four hours on the Surface Pro? And is it lagging behind all tablet rivals and even many ultrabooks?

According to Microsoft, this is due to the high performance and design. Microsoft's tablet comparison is also telling, with the Pro version being called Connections: "Not connected in idle mode to save the battery."  The RT version, on the other hand, says: "Always connected..."
