Quick overview:
If you click on a link with the right mouse button in Internet Explorer and only get an empty new window when you click on Open in new window, this could be due to an unregistered DLL file of the Internet Explorer. This is how you integrate them back into the system.
Option A - Check DLL files
1. Click in succession on Start > Execute... and type the word regsvr32 urlmon.dll followed by a click on Ok in.
2. The following message is the confirmation of the successful registration of the DLL file.
From now on the links will open again!
Other possible commands:
Instead of the regsvr32 urlmon.dll mentioned above, you can also use the commands
- regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
- regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
- regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
- regsvr32 Msjava.dll
- regsvr32 Shell32.dll
- regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
- regsvr32 Browseui.dll
if it still does not work
Option B - Check third-party software
I learned that third-party software that interferes with IE is also the cause of the open in new window bug. Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 in particular is a guarantor for this drastic error in the Windows scene. The solution:
Download this patch or uninstall Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 in case you do not need it (anymore).
Option C - Check SpyWare
SpyWare is unfortunately a special keyword in this context: they nest in Internet Explorer, transmit data and, if the programming is sloppy, which you have to assume, usually destroy the famous browser completely. In most cases, the explorer.exe is also affected or the SpyWare causes permanent 99% CPU load - but a new window in IE can also be the cause. My advice on the subject:
1. This spyware was dragged on board by tools such as Kazaa or iMesh (With fully clicked installation options - always check what you click in the custom installation). Here we recommend Ad-aware 6 from www.lavasoft.com to install or execute.
2. SpyWare VX2 in particular is responsible for this. This causes pop-ups to appear in between and sends your entries in forms to the spam company VX2, whereby IE bugs also occur. On this page to find out more about VX2, its tricks, backgrounds and of course its removal. In general, however, clicking on Start/Execute and the input of regsvr32 /u VX2.DLL - a new start completes the matter!
A VX2 removal plug-in is now also available for Ad-Aware 6. It enhances the useful anti-spyware tool with the ability to correctly detect and remove the VX2 threat. To download please click here! You have to install the plug-in via the downloaded file and open it in Ad-Aware via the section Plug-ins to be able to stand up to the different variants of VX2 and be prepared for the future.
