Anyone who wants to switch from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for PC, tablet and smartphone from July 30 must purchase the full version of the operating system. If you also want a new tablet at the same time, take a look at this comparison.
You have to buy Windows 10 from the beginning of August. If you want to do this, you should definitely compare the prices beforehand, as they already differ considerably in some cases: The Windows 10 Home Edition is currently available from several online retailers at prices between 34.90 and 82.51 euros. So it should definitely be worth googling again.
Tip: Switch quickly now!
If you want to avoid such costs and are currently still running Windows 7 or 8.1 on your PC, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 free of charge up to and including July 29 this year. The free update is very easy to do. Simply click on the Windows logo on the right-hand side of the toolbar and the update process will start. Alternatively, it is possible to download Windows 10 via the so-called "Media Creation Tool" - it makes installing the latest operating software version particularly easy.
Don't worry: Windows 7 and 8.1 will continue to run
If you are not interested in Windows 10, you can simply let the download deadline pass - the "old" operating system will continue to work as before. This should make working with Windows noticeably more pleasant for many users, as one thing will no longer appear: the GWX pop-up that previously prompted users to download Windows 10. If, contrary to expectations, the pop-up still appears, there is a tool that reliably removes it from the PC: the free GWX Stopper was already good for reliably banishing the update reminders from Microsoft from the screen, which many people found annoying.
