Der herkömmliche Windows Media Player spielt alle Formen von Audio und Videodateien ab, doch auf eine ganz wichtige Quelle lässt sich nicht zugreifen: Die DVD. Es ist auf herkömmlichem Wege unmöglich mit dem Player DVD-Videos anzusehen, weshalb man tief ins Windows Herz eingreifen muss:
1. Click on Run in the Start menu. A dialog will appear in which you enter regedit.
2. Hangeln Sie sich durch die folgenden Zweige derWindows Registrierung: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\Settings. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste ins rechte Teilfenster und wählen Sie Neu/Zeichenfolge. Diesen selbsterstellten Wert taufen Sie auf den Namen EnableDVDUI.
3. Now double-click on it and enter a Yes. You now have a new function called Open DVD. From this moment on you are allowed to enjoy DVD movies with the Media Player. It is important to note that this trick only works if you already have a software DVD player (and do not want to use it) and if you have downloaded Media Player 6.4.
