Quick overview:
MSN Messenger 7 offers many functions via tabs on the left-hand side of the program that connect to advertising and spam providers or MSN's own services (e.g. MSN Music). Annoying, we say, and if you agree with us, we'll show you how to remove these tabs as quickly as possible:
1. Click on Start/Run and click on Run. Enter the command regedit here and confirm with Enter.
2. Expand the key path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings and select each subkey that contains a number (e.g. 59111337) once. Search there for the value DisableTabs. If this is not available, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New/DWORD value.
3. Name this now DisableTabs, double-click on the newly created value and enter a 1.
After the next restart of MSN Messenger 7, you'll be rid of the annoying advertising index cards and can concentrate on the essentials: Chat carefree!
