Quick overview:
Your Windows XP desktop is cluttered, boring blue/red and simply uncomfortable? Why not give your desktop a fresh and modern look? We'll show you how to make your PC feel good with just a few simple steps:
1. Microsoft has created a new theme for the XP Media Center Edition 2005, which is now also available for XP Home and Professional. It is called Royale and can be downloaded here:
- Download Royale Theme Pack, 672 KB (Click here to Continue and, if you wish, undergo the Windows validation check WGA. Or read here more!)
2. Now unpack this compressed ZIP file with a suitable unpacker. We still recommend WinAce. Here you will find the file Royale Theme for Win XP.exe which you can now double-click.
3. Now select the path to your Windows installation (usually C:\Windows) and confirm with Next.
4. After installation, right-click on the desktop and select Properties. Select under Design: the entry Arc blue. After confirming with OK the new theme (design + background image) is adopted.
3. We now recommend that you tidy up your desktop: Do you really need all the icons or documents on the desktop? Why not move rarely used items to the Start menu or the Quick Launch bar (to the right of the Start menu). You will notice how much easier it is to work with a tidy desktop. However, these are only recommendations and will certainly not make everyone happy!
