Quick overview:
When installing Windows Me, all files are copied from the CD to the hard disk in order to continue the setup from there. This has the advantage that you no longer have to insert the CD when setting up Windows internal programs (e.g. Paint) or installing drivers. However, these files consume around 150MB. If you want to save this disk space, proceed as follows:
1. You must first make all hidden system files visible. To do this, click in My Computer on Extras/Folder options and switch to the tab View.
Now remove the tick in front of Hide protected system files and mark below the entry Show all files.
2. Now switch back to My Computer and navigate to your Windows directory, which can usually be found under C:\WINDOWS. Here you delete the folder Options.
From now on, they have a whopping 150 Megabyte that would otherwise have been wasted by Me.
