Quick overview:
Many free e-mail services on the Internet are not secure. According to a test by Computerbild, they pass on computer viruses unchecked. Five out of seven tested e-mail services received the grade "poor", the magazine reported. All the established services in the test (AOL Germany with "AOL 7.0", Freenet's "E-Mail Office Standard", GMX with "Freemail Classic" and T-Online's "Mail 4.104" and "Webmail") offered no protection whatsoever against harmful programs from the Internet and therefore received the test result "inadequate", according to Computerbild.
Computerbild tests e-mail services with the result: "Not virus-proof"
"However, inexperienced users in particular fall victim to viruses time and time again. Many are simply overwhelmed by the installation, configuration and updates of protection programs. Protection must start before the dangerous files are loaded," says Heiko Rittelmeier, operator of the educational services dialerhilfe.de and computerbetrug.de, describing the current security problems.
Protection against viruses, 0190 dialers and unwanted advertising in e-mails and during normal Internet access can be guaranteed very easily and securely. With SaferSurf, Nutzwerk offers a maintenance- and update-free Internet security tool. SaferSurf eliminates infected files before they reach the computer.
